The Indian Premier League 2014 will start Thursday, 8 April, 2014 in India. The last match of the tournament will be played May 30, 2014. It was initiated by Lalit Modi and the Board of Control for Cricket in India Six editions of the IPL already played. It creates lots of fun, entertainment and interest for the fans of the cricket. The second edition of the IPL was won by the Deccan Chargers against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2009 under the captaincy of Adam Gilchrist. Chennai Super Kings have very great record in this IPL Twenty20 cricket championship. They won two times consecutively in 2010 and 2011 against Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore. They played all the five editions under the captaincy of MS Dhoni who is the great finisher of the any format of the cricket. They played five finals out of the six which shows the great performance in this league. The fifth edition won the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2012 under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir against the Chennai Super Kings. The sixth and the previous one won by the Mumbai Indians under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma against the Chennai Super Kings. Michael Hussey scored 733 runs which is the most runs in a series. Shane Watson was remaining the player of the series in 2008 from the Rajasthan Royals side, in 2009 it was the Adam Gilchrist from the Deccan Chargers side, in 2010 Sachin Tendulkar remain the player of the series for the Mumbai Indians, in 2011 Chris Gayle was remain the player of the series from the Royal Challengers Bangalore, in 2012 Sunil Narine was remain the player of the series from the Kolkata Knight Riders side and in 2013 Shane Watson once again remain the player of the series. Shaun Marsh was the first player who is the winner of Orange cap. Sohail Tanvir was the leading wicket taker in the first edition of the IPL he took 22 wickets in that edition of the IPL. Highest partnership was made the Shaun Marsh and Adam Gilchrist of 206 runs against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Eleven hat-tricks are made in the history of the IPL in which Lakshmipathy Balaji , Amit Mishra takes three times , Makhaya Ntini , Yuvraj Singh , Praveen Kumar , Ajit Chandila and Sunil Narine. Chris Gayle gain the most men of the matches in the IPL history, he named it in 15 times out of the 59 matches he played. Yusuf Pathan gain 13 times. Michael Hussey , Virender Sehwag and Mahendra Singh Dhoni gain ten times each.
